Two women have been charged and refused bail following a armed robbery at a Lismore convenience store, where between $6,000 and $7,000 in cash was stolen along with a firearm and drugs later seized during a follow-up search.
A group of three people entered a store on Woodlark Street about 6.15pm on July 12.
A 25-year-old staff member was threatened with a knife, escaping the ordeal unharmed as the group fled in an SUV with the cash and other items. Lismore has seen a string of property and violent crime reports in recent years, and the area’s convenience stores are frequently the target of after-hours incidents.
Savannah Brannigan, 24, and Jasmine Williams, 23, were arrested at a home on Rosegum Drive, Goonellabah, about half an hour after the robbery and taken to Lismore Police Station.
A search warrant carried out at the same home that night turned up a firearm, a Nissan SUV, two mobile phones and cannabis, all seized for further testing and forensic examination.
Both women were charged with robbery in company, a serious offence under NSW law carrying a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
Third man charged over robbery
Cody Close, the third person allegedly involved in the Woodlark Street robbery, has now been charged with robbery in company.
Close faced Bail Division July 23 where bail was refused.
He’s also facing separate charges of drug possession, hindering police, and assaulting a police officer without causing injury.
Close will remain in custody to appear before Lismore Local Court September 17.
Brannigan and Williams will remain in custody to appear before Lismore Local Court on September 26.
