A Tweed Heads raid has uncovered stolen goods and a firearm, leading to a raft of charges against a local man.
Officers attached to the Tweed-Byron Proactive Crime Team commenced an investigation in June 2026 into a string of break-ins at a commercial property in Tweed Heads South and a club house in Tweed Heads West.
Detectives also believed the same offending stretched into firearm-related crimes across northern NSW and into Queensland.
As part of their inquiries, police identified a vehicle allegedly linked to the offences at a Tweed Heads West address.
Further investigation led them to Dylan Newbury, 34, of Piggabeen, who was believed to be in possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of crime.
Newbury was arrested at a unit on Bailey Street after police executed a search warrant on Thursday.
During the Tweed Heads raid, officers allegedly located and seized stolen property, including jerseys reported stolen from the Tweed Seagulls Rugby League Club.
Police also allegedly seized two firearms, one of which was loaded, along with a quantity of cannabis, e-bikes, tools and other items suspected of being proceeds of crime linked to offences across the Tweed/Byron Police District.
Newbury was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station, where he was charged with 11 offences in total, including three counts of break, enter and steal, along with several firearms-related offences covering unauthorised possession, unsafe storage and an unregistered weapon.
He was also charged with goods in custody.
Jerseys returned after Tweed Heads raid
On Friday, Tweed-Byron Police District inspectors returned the stolen jerseys and other recovered property to South Tweed Seagulls .
A Grade coach Craig Field, who expressed his sincere appreciation for the efforts of police and members of the public whose assistance led to the successful recovery.
Newbury appeared before Judge L Robinson at Bail Division Court on Friday, where he was refused bail.
He is due to reappear before Tweed Local Court on July 20.
Investigations are continuing.
