A police pursuit Kempsey crash has left three teenage boys before the Children’s Court, after an alleged break-in, two stolen cars, and a machete found in the wreckage.
Police were called to a home in Lake Cathie about 3.15am on Thursday, following reports of a break-in.
They were told two teenage boys had entered the home and stolen wallets, keys and a sedan before leaving. A short time later, police were told an SUV had also been stolen from a home in Thrumster.

About 3.30am, police tried to stop the sedan and the SUV heading north on the Pacific Highway at Kundabung.
When the drivers failed to stop, police began a pursuit. Road spikes deployed at South Kempsey slowed the sedan, which went on to strike a gutter and crash into a power pole at low speed on Lord Street, Kempsey.
Two 16-year-old boys inside the sedan were arrested and taken to Kempsey Police Station.
A search of the car turned up a machete, a crowbar, and property police allege was stolen from the Lake Cathie home.
Charges laid
The alleged driver, 16, was charged with four offences: breach of bail, aggravated break and enter in company, taking a vehicle without consent, and failing to stop for police.
The second 16-year-old was charged with three offences: breach of bail, aggravated break and enter in company, and being carried in a stolen vehicle.
Police later found the SUV abandoned on Douglas Street, Port Macquarie.
About 10.30am, they arrested a 15-year-old boy at a nearby home and took him to Port Macquarie Police Station, where he was charged with breach of bail and taking a vehicle without consent.
All three boys were refused bail and will appear before the Children’s Court today.
