A Ballina man held on remand over seven domestic violence charges is now facing an eighth allegation.

Sean Hector Bolt, 29, appeared from custody before Judge K Crittenden at Ballina Local Court on Friday after an additional stalking or intimidation charge was lodged.

The latest charge alleges Bolt intended to cause a person to fear physical or other harm.

The Ballina DV charges span two cases and include two counts of intentionally choking a person, two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, one count of common assault and three counts of stalking or intimidation.

Seven of the charges were already before the court when Bolt was refused bail in February.

Ballina DV charges remain unresolved

While in custody, Bolt was separately sentenced in May to 18 months in jail over unrelated driving offences.

That sentence was backdated to February 27, with release to parole set for August 26.

Bolt remained in custody because bail had been refused on the unresolved domestic violence charges.

Judge Crittenden adjourned the eight charges until November 5 at Ballina Local Court.

A related apprehended domestic violence order application returns to court on December 23.
