A Port Macquarie early morning home invasion has left a 37-year-old man with stab wounds and sparked a pursuit towards Kempsey.
Emergency services were called to a home on The Ruins Way about 5.50am on Monday after a group allegedly forced its way inside.
The intruders stole a black Ford Mustang and a grey Mercedes C300 before fleeing.
The occupant suffered stab wounds to his arm and was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital in a stable condition.
About ten minutes later, the two stolen cars were spotted travelling on Macleay Valley Way at Kempsey.
A police pursuit began after the drivers allegedly failed to stop, with road spikes deployed during the chase.
The Mustang was found abandoned nearby a short time later and seized for forensic examination.
The Mercedes was later discovered on fire in the Greenhill area.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze before the vehicle was also seized for forensic examination.
Multiple crime scenes have been established as the investigation into the Port Macquarie home invasion continues.
