A warrant has been issued for a Ballina man who failed to appear in court just three days after being granted bail with conditions on a separate charge in Sydney.
Jack Oliss, 21, appeared at Sydney’s Downing Centre on August 30 charged with attempting to stalk or intimidate a person with the intention of causing fear of harm.
Ballina court no-show
Three days later, Oliss was due before Judge K Crittenden at Ballina Local Court over an e-bike stolen from the Habitat Shopping Complex in Byron Bay and cannabis found during a separate police search in Ballina.
The e-bike was stolen in June and had not been recovered when Oliss was charged. Police found the cannabis in his bag during a search in July.
Oliss pleaded guilty to possessing the cannabis in July and stealing the e-bike in August.
The court was also due to consider an alleged breach of bail conditions attached to those matters.
One condition banned Oliss from entering Byron Bay unless he was attending court.
Police alleged Oliss breached that condition when officers found him on Bangalow Road, Byron Bay, in August.
Oliss did not appear on Wednesday and Judge Crittenden convicted him of the e-bike theft and fined him for cannabis possession.
The alleged bail breach was not decided, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
The separate Sydney charge is due back before Downing Centre Local Court later this month.
Anyone with information about Oliss’s whereabouts is urged to contact their local police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at nsw.crimestoppers.com.au.
